Things You'll Need
Instructions
Choose a location to rebuild your carburetor that is well ventilated and has a large work surface to lay out the parts. When disassembling the mechanism, a fair amount of fuel is spilled, so it is wise to have oil dry and old rags on hand.
Disassemble all of the components of the carburetor with the wrenches and hex head keys. Lay out the components on the table in a fashion that helps you remember how to reassemble them.
Switch out the old parts for the matching new parts in the carburetor rebuild kit. Some kits are generic and you may have parts you can't use.
Spray carburetor cleaner on all of the components and individually clean them with a clean rag. Place them back on the work bench in their original position. Pay particular attention to the float bowl as it is usually one of the dirtiest parts.
Replace the gasket in the float bowl with the new one from the rebuild kit. Pull the gasket from its groove and push the new one into place. Be careful not to damage the new gasket in any way.
Replace the O-ring that seals between the carburetor and the intake manifold using the same technique as before.
Replace any other gasket in the carburetor with the new gaskets from the rebuild kit.
Reassemble the carburetor reversing the process used disassemble it.
