Things You'll Need
Instructions
Observe the campsite you are staying at and inspect all areas for spiders and nests. Place your tents and camping equipment in areas on the campground that are free of bugs, heavy woods and water (which attracts more insects).
Purchase and spray bug and spider repellent on your camping items, including the outside of your tent. Avoid spraying repellents around children or in enclosed areas, as many bug sprays contain chemicals that are harmful if ingested.
Use citronella or bug repellent (oil) candles while camping on your campsite to keep additional bugs away, which spiders will be hunting for food. The more insects you keep away from your campsite, the fewer spiders will desire to come your way.
Remove open food from your campsite and keep all of your food and drinks in coolers or other sealed containers to minimize the number of bugs and spiders in your area.
