How to Make an Origami Iceberg

The art of oragami is believed to originate in the early seventh century when China introduced paper making to Japan. Early folding techniques were largely for practical purposes, though paper folding took on a decorative function sometime between the 17th and 19th centuries. An origami iceberg is a shape fit for beginners, requiring only a few simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold the origami paper in half, with the blank backside facing out.

    • 2

Rotate the paper so the longest side is facing down, with the 90 degree corner facing up.

    • 3

Fold the paper in half again, bringing the side corners together so the fold indents into the paper. Unfold.

    • 4

Fold both the side corners into the center, a half inch away from the center crease. Fold these flaps back onto themselves, then reverse the fold again.

    • 5

Unfold these creases, leaving the paper folded in half, to complete the iceberg.
