How to Use Cement in Hobbies

When it comes to hobbies like making model airplanes, remote-controlled cars and model trains, contact cement is one of the most used tools of the trade. Contact cement comes in a small tube with a fine-tipped applicator that makes it easy to use on small, delicate pieces. This type of cement dries to a hard consistency in a relatively short amount of time and produces a strong bond.

  Examine the two pieces you are trying to bond together using contact cement. Clean the debris, dirt or grease from the parts.

  Apply a thin coating of cement to one of the pieces you want to glue together. Have the other piece nearby so you can glue them together immediately --- contact cement is fast drying.

  Align the two surfaces and press them together firmly with your hands to adhere them.

  Replace the cap on your cement tube to keep it from drying out for your next project.
