How to Make a Buttercream Clown

Cut the tip off one of the cake decorator bags. Insert the cone portion of the coupler into the bag and push it down until the tip of the coupler sticks out of the hole at the tip of the bag. Place tip number 21 onto the coupler and secure in place with the coupler ring.

Fill the bag with yellow buttercream icing and set aside.

Cut the tip off the second cake decorator bag. Insert tip number 4 into the bag and push it down until the tip pokes out of the hole. Fill the bag with red buttercream icing.

Hold the bag of yellow icing over an iced cupcake with the tip touching the top center of the cupcake. Squeeze the bag gently and slowly pull the bag straight up to create a 2-inch-high tube of icing. This is the clown's body.

Unscrew the coupler ring and change tip number 21 to tip number 18. Screw the coupler ring back in place.

Place the tip of the yellow icing bag so that it is touching the top of the cupcake and the left side of the clown's body. Squeeze the bag gently and pull it up and down while moving it towards you. This creates a leg that is bent at the knee. Create a second leg on the right side of the clown's body.

Place the tip of the yellow icing bag on the top left side of the clown's body. Squeeze the bag gently and create an "L" shape. This creates an arm that is bent at the elbow. Create a second arm that resembles a backwards "L" on the right side of the clown's body.

Place the tip of the red icing bag at the bottom of the left leg. Squeeze a small dot to create a red shoe on the foot. Place an identical dot at the bottom of the right leg.

Place the tip of the red icing bag at the bottom of the left arm. Squeeze a small dot to create a hand. Place an identical dot at the bottom of the right arm.

Insert a head topper at the top of the body.
