How to Make an RC Snow Track With Jumps and Turns

Building an off-road RC car track from snow offers challenge and excitement during the winter season. Operating an off-road RC vehicle on snow differs from any other driving experience. Using snow to construct jumps, curves and track boundaries requires planning and can require a great deal of manual labor, depending upon the chosen design and available equipment.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a track design plan using a sheet of paper and pencil. Add challenging turns to the design and varying jumps throughout the track. Take the available space and the amount of snow available into consideration when designing the layout.

    • 2

Lay out the track straightaways and turns on the ground, using wooden stakes as markers.

    • 3

Drive the lawn tractor with the plow elevated from the ground, within the outlined track area, making several laps. Continue to drive laps around the track until the track surface becomes flat, smooth and uniform. The tractor tires will compact the snow, allowing for a defined track surface.

    • 4

Scoop up loads of outer lying snow and dump the loads over the marked jump areas on the track, using the plow. Pack, shape and smooth the snow jumps with a snow shovel. Keep in mind the structural and design limitations of the vehicle when fashioning the ramp angle and height of each jump.

    • 5

Drive the RC vehicle onto the track. Make any adjustments needed for the snow jumps and turns to maximize driving challenges or enjoyment.
