How to Set Up the GP750 Gyro

A head lock gyro must identify the neutral position of a helicopter to maintain the aircraft's stability during flight. This type of gyro uses the front end (head) of a radio-controlled (RC) helicopter as a point of reference. It derives its name from the fact that it locks the helicopter into a position that keeps the nose in a specific position during flight. A gyro will return the RC helicopter to center to prevent a loss of control. Learn how to set up your GP750 head lock gyro to ensure that your RC helicopter remains stable and functioning at optimal performance.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the gyro's gain wire into the gain channel of the receiver, then connect the rudder channel into channel 4 (sometimes labeled "RUDD") of the receiver.

    • 2

Plug the rudder servo into the servo input on the gyro, located on the bottom right edge of the device.

    • 3

Turn on the RC helicopter and receiver, then rotate it left to see whether the rudder gyro compensates by moving the aircraft to the right. If the helicopter doesn't move to the right, press the "SET" button until the "NOR/REV" light illuminates, then use the right joystick to change the setting form green (NOR) to red (REV) or vice versa.

    • 4

Press the "SET" button until the "Limit" light (the fourth light from the left) illuminates. Move the rudder joystick as far left as the aircraft's mechanics permit, then press the "SET" button to set the limit. Repeat this process for the right limit setting.
