Instructions
Measure the length at the top of the crutch with a tape measure. Cut the piece of wood to the length just measured, using a hand saw. Measure the diameter of the tip of the crutch and write this measurement down.
Place the wood on a work surface. Drill a hole through the center of the wood with an electric drill, using a drill bit that is the same diameter as the measurement written down.
Measure the length of the crutch from the tip to the first set of criss-cross rods. Purchase a metal spring that is a bit wider than the diameter of the tip and 3 inches shorter than the measurement taken. Place the spring over the tip of the crutch. Run the spring up the length of the crutch until it meets resistance.
Put the tip of the crutch through the hole in the wood. Push the wood up until it meets the end of the spring.
Place a "C" (or spring) clamp around the edge of the wood and the end of the spring to hold the two together. Apply bonding glue around the end of the spring where it meets the wood. Let the glue set overnight. Apply another coating of glue and let the glue set overnight. Repeat this an additional three times.
Stand up the crutch, which is now a pogo stick. Have the child place his feet on the wood at either side of the tip. Have the child grip the top of the crutch and start jumping.
