Things You'll Need
Instructions
Brainstorm on the style of dancing that interests you. If you are currently a dancer, create a list of the areas in which you need improvement (whether it is your timing, your flow or overall stage presence).
Take a dance class to help with improving your skills while also learning to communicate and share steps and stages with other dancers. Call your local community center or city hall to inquire about available dance classes, or visit an independent dance studio to register.
Find a dance partner who will help to keep you on task and also motivate you to continue dancing and practicing your moves.
Exercise and incorporate forms of yoga and other stretching activities into your daily life. This will help to keep your body limber and ready for various dance moves and steps.
Take note of your breathing when dancing to ensure you are getting the proper amount of oxygen, rather than holding your breath during steps or intricate moves. Breathing consistently is important to keep your strength and avoid fatigue while dancing.
Read dance magazines and watch online dancing instruction videos to help improve specific problem areas in your own routines. These will also help inspire new moves and dance styles to try.
Practice each day in front of a mirror to view your progress, and to also keep track of your body movements and presence. Record your practice to have a visual measurement of both your progress and what areas still need work.
