How to Make a Floral Swag Wreath

Floral swags add charm and ambiance to any home. They are created by attaching various pieces of foliage together. Eucalyptus branches are sturdy enough to add a large amount of flowers. The branches also give off a lovely fragrance. The crafter can create a colorful piece to complement existing decor or use traditional colors for varying holiday decorations.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay out the eucalyptus branches to form the swag shape. The branches should overlap in the center of the swag. Hot glue the branches together where they touch. Add several layers of branches, hot gluing as you work. There should be at least two layers of branches but no more than five, depending on how thick you want your swag to look. Set aside and allow to dry.

    • 2

Lay out all your chosen flowers. Create a design of how you would like them arranged on the swag. Move the flowers around until you have created the look you want. If you choose to leave the stems on, bundle several flowers with ribbon.

Cut two pieces of floral wire, each 6 inches long. Attach each piece of wire to the back of the swag about one third of the way from each end. Wrap the wire around one or several branches, form a loop and twist to secure.

Attach your flower arrangement to the front of the swag with hot glue. Work outwards from the center. Remove any excess hot glue strings carefully with scissors. Use ribbon to tie small bows and attach throughout the swag. Allow the glue to dry. Hang the swag by the two wire loops on the back.
