How to Make a Cardboard Bullet Trap

Target practice is an excellent way to improve your shooting accuracy. You can build a bullet-catching trap out of cardboard to catch the pellets from your BB gun for reuse. Make the trap from supplies found around the house and from a crafts store. You'll need a few common household tools as well.

Things You'll Need

  • Empty cereal box
  • Utility knife
  • Newspaper
  • Scissors
  • White printing paper, 8-by-10 inches
  • Magic marker, fine-tip
  • 2 wooden dowels, 1/2-inch thick, 10-inches long
  • Cellophane tape
  • Duct tape

Instructions

    • 1

Stand the empty cereal box on a table with the front facing you. Open the top flaps of the cereal box. Cut off the flaps with the blade of a utility knife. Cut through the front of the box with the blade. Remove the cut out cardboard from the box.

    • 2

Place a sheet of newspaper on the table. Place the cardboard cutout on the newspaper. Cut an outline through the newspaper from around the cardboard with scissors. Repeat this procedure to cut out another outline from around the cardboard, this time with a sheet of white paper. Tape the cardboard cutout to the back of the box with strips of cellophane tape to add stability to the box.

    • 3

Draw a circle on the white cutout that will be your target with the magic marker. Draw a dot in the center to be the "bullseye" of the target. Draw a circle around the dot.

    • 4

Place one of the two wooden dowels horizontally on the table. Tape the top of the paper cutout to the dowel with strips of cellophane tape. Repeat this procedure with the other wooden dowel and the newspaper cutout.

    • 5

Hold the wooden dowel that has the newspaper attached to it horizontally. Place the dowel on the top of the cereal box an inch from the back edge. Tape the dowel to the sides of the box with strips of duct tape.

    • 6

Place the other wooden dowel with the white paper target horizontally across the top of the box an inch from the front edge. Tape the dowel to the sides of the box with strips of duct tape.
