Things You'll Need
Instructions
Hire a professional photographer to take action shots of your roller skater in the two or three months you are gearing up toward sponsorship. This will give you current, attractive, professional photographs to show a potential sponsor reflecting the exciting personality and potential of the skater.
Write a sports biography detailing the history of the skater in the sport. Many sponsors may be unfamiliar with roller skating and have only a vague idea of your skater's position within the sport. Work with a professional sports writer to make your biography powerful, interesting and comprehensive. The biography should feature six to eight good photographs of the skater growing up in the sport.
Compose a document describing the long-term goals of the skater in the sport. Identify the exposure the sponsor can receive from people watching the events, attending the events and hearing about the events in the media. According to the advertising guidelines produced by USA Roller Sports, local sponsors can register for $100 and national sponsors can register for $1,000. Once a sponsor registers, they can support one or more athlete within the sport.
Present your package of photographs, biography and skater goals to local companies and individuals to discuss personal athlete sponsorship. The skater is allowed to wear a 3-inch sponsor patch on her competition costume during events. Sponsors are allowed to feature the skater in their advertising. Warm-up jackets and outfits may have much larger sponsor branding.
Present your package to a pro-launch company. A pro-launch company is organized to acquire sponsorship from major corporations for all kinds of sports. If you work with a pro-launch company, they will negotiate for you and take a fee for their services.
