Things You'll Need
Instructions
Create the first layer of the smokehouse. Use five cinder blocks. The back of the smokehouse consists of one cinder block lying horizontally width-wise in the middle. Place two cinder blocks length-wise on each side of the middle block. This will form an upside down "u."
Place a 1/8-inch-thick metal lintel across the front of the smoker on top of the cinder blocks. This will slightly raise the front block on the next layer. Make the second layer of cinder blocks level by placing wood shims or spacers on the remaining blocks.
Create the second layer by placing cinder blocks on top of the first layer of blocks. On the back wall of the second layer, place two cinder blocks width-wise. Place two cinder blocks across the front, on the metal lintel, width-wise. Place two more cinder blocks, one on each side length-wise to form a square.
Form the third layer of the smokehouse by making a square out of cinder blocks on top of the second layer. Place one block width-wise in the middle of the back with two more running length-wise down the sides. Place one more block in the front between the side blocks to form a square.
Repeat Step 3 to form the fourth layer of blocks.
Repeat Step 4 to form the fifth layer of blocks.
Create the sixth layer of blocks by repeating the process in Step 3 for block placement.
Construct the fire pit portion of the smokehouse using seven cinder blocks. The fire pit part of the smokehouse is built in front of the smokehouse with blocks abutting, but unattached. Place two blocks length-wise on either side of the smokehouse. Lay three cinder blocks width-wise, one in front of each other, on top of the two lines of vertical cinder blocks.
Place patio blocks around the smoker to finish around the outside of the smokehouse.
Place a piece of cardboard or wood over the top of the smokehouse. Using wire, attach sticks holding meat to the cover of the smoker. Then hang the meat down into the smokehouse for smoking.
