Pen-like testers comprise one of the cheapest solutions for oxygen testing. These devices yield a readout for oxygen levels, yet they will not be as accurate as other more complex digital devices. On the plus side, these devices will not put a strain on your pocketbook. The process for reading a pen-like oxygen tester can be completed in a few simple steps. The process may vary slightly based upon the make and model of the tester; however, many commonalities exist.

     Turn on your pen-like oxygen tester. Allow it to gain an accurate reading.

     Look at the display on your device. It will contain the output for your test. Generally, the unit for this will be milligrams per liter.

     Take another reading. You should perform this same process again in the same conditions. Verify that the reading conforms to the original. If you notice a major inconsistency, you likely made a mistake and need to perform another test.
