How to Throw a Bowling Ball With Fingertip Grips

The fingertip grip is one of three common grips used by bowlers. The conventional grip is usually done by starters who need put their fingers fully into the ball. The semi-fingertip grip has the fingers inserted between the first and second joint while the thumb is all the way into the ball. The fingertip grip means the ball is supported just by the first joint of the bowling fingers. It is used by experienced bowlers seeking more control over the spin and rotation of the ball.

Instructions

    • 1

Put your thumb into the thumb hole. Place your middle and ring fingers into the other two holes.

    • 2

Rest the finger crease of the first joint of both fingers on the edge of the finger hole.

    • 3

Release the ball as your normally would. The fingertip grip should keep your fingers in the ball longer than normal, which should give the ball some extra power when it connects with the pins.
