How to Transport Lobster

Transporting fresh lobsters from the market to your home requires the proper type of container. You will need to use a container that stays cold during transport. The best and easiest way to transport lobsters is to place them into a Styrofoam cooler. The temperature of the cooler needs to stay between 32 and 40 degrees.

Things You'll Need

Styrofoam cooler
Felt-tip marker
Power drill
Plastic freezer bags, 1 gallon
Newspaper

Instructions

  Remove the lid from the Styrofoam cooler. Mark six hole locations on the lid with the felt-tip marker.

  Drill holes in the lid of the cooler with the power drill. The holes allow fresh air to circulate through the cooler.

  Fill two to three plastic freezer bags with ice. Seal the bags and lay them in the bottom of the cooler.

  Place three to four layers of newspaper over the top of the ice to prevent the lobsters from coming into direct contact with the bags of ice.

  Set the lobsters on top of the newspaper and place the lid on the cooler.
