Things You'll Need
Instructions
Put on the hat and measure from the brim of the hat to the point on your back between the shoulder blades.
Roll open the mesh fabric on the worktable. Trace a horizontal line at the top of the fabric that is 1/2 inch larger than the diameter of the brim of the hat.
Draw a straight line down from the two ends of the horizontal line that is 1/2 inch longer than the distance from the hat brim to the spot on your back. Connect the left and right lines at the bottom to make a square.
Cut the rectangle out of the mesh.
Fold the left side over to the right side and even all sides up.
Sew the left side and the right side together, giving a 1/4-inch margin. Turn the material inside out to put the hem on the inside of the mesh tube.
Cut a strip 1/2 inch wide and as long as the circumference of the mesh tube from the linen cloth.
Fold the strip so that it is 1/4 inch wide and place one end of the tube into the fabric fold. Sew it to the mesh fabric, giving you a 1/4 inch cloth bottom hem on the tube.
Slide the other end of the mesh tube up over the brim of the hat. Glue 1/2 inch of the mesh fabric to the top of the brim of the hat. Let dry.
Slide the mesh tube over your head and put the hat on to test for size.
