How to Make Crib Pegs

When disassembling and reassembling a crib, small parts can become lost or broken, and among them are wooden pegs. Pegs are used with screws or bolts to secure pieces to one another. You can make crib pegs by cutting new ones from a piece of dowel. To do this you will need to determine the size of peg that is needed for the crib.

  • Wood dowel
  • Pencil
  • Tape measure
  • Miter saw
  • Sandpaper

Instructions

    • 1

      Measure the diameter of the peg hole in the crib and make a note of the measurement.

      Purchase a dowel that matches the measurement in Step 1.

      Measure the dowel and make a mark every 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches with the pencil.

      Cut on the marks with the miter saw.

      Sand the cut ends of dowel smooth with the sandpaper. Create a bevel on each end of the peg with the sandpaper. Repeat this step for the remaining pegs.
