How Do I Keep From Losing Barrels From Under a Boat Dock?

Spending time on the water can be fun and exciting, especially if you have your own boat dock. Even if you don't have a boat, a dock can serve a few different purposes. It can be a swimming platform, a place to sunbathe, a fishing platform, or a place to just relax and enjoy the sounds and smells of the water. If you have a floating dock made with barrels, there may be a risk of barrels working themselves loose and floating away, taking with them the stability of your dock. Make sure this doesn't happen by taking steps to secure your barrels.

Things You'll Need

  • Strap-bonding tool

Instructions

    • 1

Clear a space near the water line and pull the floating boat dock out of the water. Flip the dock over to expose the barrels and deck support beams.

    • 2

Measure a length of plastic strapping long enough to fit around one end of a barrel and the closest dock support beam. Wrap the plastic strapping around the end of a barrel and the support beam. Secure, tighten and seal the plastic strapping with the bonding tool. Repeat this process for the other end of the barrel.

    • 3

Secure the remaining barrels with the plastic strapping. Invert the dock and put it back in the water.
