How to Remove the Primer Assembly From a Pro 1000 Press

The cost of ammunition is continuously on the rise and increasingly difficult to purchase. As a result, more and more people are turning to the art of reloading their own ammunition through the use of reload kits such as the Pro 1000 Press, manufactured by Lee Precision Inc. The Primer assembly on the Pro 1000 consists of the removable primer tray and cover. A primer, the piece inserted inside the base of the bullet casing, forms the spark that helps fire the round.

     Wear safety goggles, and open the lid to the primer tray by hand. Remove any loose primers inside the tray, and shut the tray door.

   • 2

     Grasp the tray in one hand, and use a pair of pliers to loosen the nut at the bottom of the primer tray that connects it to the tube that feeds to the primer trough. Turn the nut counterclockwise to loosen it.

     Pull the primer assembly straight off once you have loosened the bolt.
