Things You'll Need
Instructions
Stuff the doll appendages with wool or polyester batting. Stitch the leg opening closed with small hand stitches.
Thread a needle with heavy-duty thread that matches the color of the doll's body.
Place the needle in the middle of the threaded strand and knot the end to form a double sewing thread.
Push your needle and thread through one hole of a two-hole button. Bring it back through the other hole and slip the needle through the original knotted loop. This forms a slip knot and secures the thread onto the button.
Position the leg along the bottom side of the torso. Place the button on the outside of the leg joint.
Pull the needle through the leg and torso fabric. Draw it completely through the torso to attach the two pieces together.
Place the other leg and another button on the opposite side of the lower body. Push the needle through one of the button holes. Draw the thread tight until both legs pull close to the doll's body.
Bring the needle back through the other button hole on the second button. Push the needle through the doll's torso and through the first button.
Repeat this procedure to securely anchor the legs to the doll's body, with two passes of the needle and heavy-duty thread.
Knot the final pass of the thread with four overhand knots and feed the remaining thread into the body to hide it.
Cut the needle off the thread.
