How to Make a Squirrel Caller

Whether you're a hunter or wildlife enthusiast, you may be trying to determine the best way to coax squirrels to you. Peanuts and birdseed are helpful if you're willing to wait for the squirrels to get hungry, but if you want to see them right now you'll have to execute a squirrel call. Although commercial squirrel callers are available on the market, it is quick and easy to make your own squirrel caller at home.

Things You'll Need

  • Spring clothespin
  • 2 quarters
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue stick

Instructions

    • 1

Load the hot glue gun with a glue stick. Turn on the hot glue gun and allow the glue stick to warm up in preparation for use.

    • 2

Squirt a pea-sized amount of hot glue on one quarter. Quickly open the clothespin and place the side of the quarter with the glue against the clothespin. Hold the quarter in place for 30 seconds to allow the glue to adequately adhere the quarter to the clothespin.

    • 3

Squirt a pea-sized amount of hot glue on the remaining quarter. Quickly open the clothespin and place the quarter on the remaining side of the clothespin. Hold the quarter in place for 30 seconds.

    • 4

Practice using your squirrel caller by rapidly opening and closing the clothespin to make a "clack" noise when the two quarters collide with one another.
