How to Make Homemade Lights for My T-Maxx

Remote controlled vehicles are hard enough to see in the daylight -- especially wicked-quick RC cars like the T-Maxx. On darker days and dusk you will have an even more difficult time seeing them. Adding small lights can help your driving immensely in dark conditions. Rather than adding heavy bulbs, consider using LED lights connected to the body of your T-Maxx.

Things You'll Need

  • T-Maxx shell
  • Power drill
  • 2 to 4 battery-powered (AAA) LED lights
  • Alcohol swab
  • Scissors or razor blade
  • Double stick tape with Velcro

Instructions

    • 1

Drill holes for lights in body. You may wish to purchase a second T-Maxx body just for lights for easier usage. Be sure holes are sized correctly for the LED lights and that you're close enough to the underside of the hood so the LED lights can be mounted.

    • 2

Drill holes for rear lights (if applicable). Once again, be sure you're close enough to mount the rear lights on the inside of the body.

    • 3

Wipe an alcohol swab on the inside of the T-Maxx body wherever you wish to mount battery pack and lights.

    • 4

Wipe light and battery pack surfaces where you want to mount onto the T-Maxx with an alcohol swab.

    • 5

Cut Velcro double-sided tape to size for lights and battery case.

    • 6

Stick double-stick tape/Velcro to components and mount inside of T-Maxx shell. Be sure to verify easy access to the battery pack and that all components are in strong enough to handle violent movements.
