Wire Bending Jig Instructions

Wire bending jigs are inexpensive and are a useful addition to many toolboxes. Most small wire bending jigs are made of aluminum and can bend steel wire up to 1/4-inch thick. Industrial applications of wire bending jigs use steel or harder metals to gain more leverage in bending the larger wire. There are also smaller plastic or light metal jigs available at hobby stores for making jewelry and weaving light gauge metal wire.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the screw holes on each end of the jig to attach it to your work bench or other stable surface.

    • 2

Determine the bends needed. Most jigs have groves for angular designs or movable pegs for curves.

    • 3

Put the end of the wire into the groove or wrap between two pegs, and use the leverage created by the jig to bend the wire. Repeat for any other bends necessary for the design.
