Things You'll Need
Instructions
Measure the rigid foam insulation and make four marks at six inches with the felt tip marker. Place the straight edge on each mark and draw cut line. Cut four 4-foot pieces with the circular saw.
Measure and cut four 1-inch strips from the rigid foam insulation. Cut a 6-by-6-inch square out of the rigid insulation. This will be the base.
Assemble the four cut pieces of rigid foam insulation to form a column. The center of the column needs to measure 5-by-5 inches. Secure the pieces of rigid foam insulation with a green or blue painter's tape.
Assemble the four 1-inch pieces to from a 2-by-2-inch column. Secure the pieces together with the painter's tape.
Set the 2-by-2-inch column in the center of the 6-inch square piece of rigid foam insulation. Drill a pilot hole through the insulation and into the 1-inch pieces with the power drill. Secure the pieces using a screw.
Set the column and base upright. Place the 5-by-5-inch column onto the base. Secure the pieces by using screws.
Mix the crack resistant concrete in a bucket. Fill the form with the concrete at 6-inch intervals. You will need to tamp the concrete with a 1-by-2 board as you fill the form to give it a smooth surface.
Allow the concrete to cure for three to four days and then remove the form.
