Things You'll Need
Instructions
Swim in lakes and rivers if the terrain you are traveling through permits. Even cold water can be exhilarating and wash away dirt and sweat. Use a raw egg to shampoo your hair and do not use soap, since the chemicals in these products can harm plants and animals that share the same water.
Give yourself a sponge bath with a washcloth. This is a good option if you are backpacking in desert terrain with little or no groundwater. Wet your washcloth in a spring or with water you carry and wipe down your body, paying special attention to your crotch, armpits and feet.
Bring large water storage containers on extended car camping trips in the desert. This will provide you with extra drinking water and permit you to create a sun shower. Warm a pot of water in the sun, and pour it over your body, repeating until you are satisfactorily clean.
Place snow in a pot and melt it over a portable stove if you are snow camping. Give yourself a sponge bath by dipping a washcloth in the heated water. Clean one body part at a time and dry yourself thoroughly to avoid suffering from a lowered core temperature.
