How to Adjust a Chain Size Chain Breaker

Chain breakers are designed to force out the rivet that is used to secure a chain link. This allows you to repair chains that are used on motorcycles, bicycles and an ATV. Pressure is applied to break a link of the chain by popping out a rivet that drops out of a hole in the bottom of the chain breaker. You can find a chain breaker at a local home improvement store.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the threads of the handle into the hole on the side of the body. Tighten the handle by turning it to the right.

    • 2

Insert the alignment bolt into the large diameter hole at the top of the chain breaker. Turn the alignment bolt to the right to move it down.

    • 3

Insert the threads of the push bolt into the end of the alignment bolt. Turn the push bolt clockwise until it is tight.

    • 4

Insert the lever into the hole at the top of the push bolt.

    • 5

Place the spring onto a breaking tip. Insert the end of the breaking tip with the spring into the hole that is in the alignment bolt.

    • 6

Turn the lever on the handle to the right to position the breaking tip for the size of the chain.
