Drafts
There are four principle components to a weaving draft chart. The threading grid shows users how to thread the heddles. The rows represent the harnesses. The tie-up grid, usually composed of six horizontally arranged blocks and either four or eight vertically arranged blocks, shows users how to combine the harnesses so they rise at the same time when the foot treadle is pushed. The treadling grid shows users how to raise the harness in the correct pattern. Finally, the draw-down depicts the final pattern.
Baby Blanket
Consider weaving a baby blanket. Central to the effectiveness of the final product will be the colors you choose. Blue, gray and white work well for any baby. If you would prefer the more traditional colors used for girls, use pink and purple. The finished dimensions should be approximately 37 inches by 37 inches. The finishing should be in the hand crochet hook style with the high-bulk around all of the cloth.
Dish Towel
Consider a small towel for drying dishes. Choose colors that match the curtains, cupboards and tiles of your kitchen. The finished dimensions of this product should be approximately 23 inches by 33 inches. For dish towels, cotton is the best type of material to use.
Dresser Cover
Dresser top covers can lighten up the atmosphere in a room and provide protection against dents and scratches. Dresser top covers should form a long rectangular pattern with dimensions of approximately 14 inches by 33 inches, not including the fringe. The fringe is the frilly finish made up of strands of yarn or thread that are around 1 inch.
Placemat
A homemade placemat can give your kitchen table a feel often only experienced at quaint bed-and-breakfasts in the country. Choose colors that match the surrounding décor. The dimensions should be 14 inches by 15.5 inches, not including the fringe. The fringe should be 1-¼ inches long.
