Tesoro Vaquero Tips

Positioning

• In order to optimize your findings, it's important to hold your Tesoro Vaquero in a proper position. You want the metal detector to feel comfortable in your grip while being positioned correctly above the ground. This can be achieved by adjusting the length of your Tesoro Vaquero's pole lock so that it sits comfortably in your hand and is approximately one inch off the ground. Doing so should prevent your hand and forearm from getting tired.

Sweeping

• In order to maximize your treasure finds, you will need to perform the sweeping technique correctly. This is accomplished by moving your Tesoro Vaquero from side to side using an arc motion to cover a total distance of approximately 3 feet. Move at a steady pace that feels natural to you. There is no need to move quickly because the Tesoro Vaquero is equipped to find metal at slower speeds. Try to keep your metal detector approximately 1 inch above the ground, where it can pick up targets but not scrape the ground.

Finding Metal

• When you come across a potential find, you will want to get as close to your target as possible. Using the "All Metal" mode on your Tesoro Vaquero is usually the best way to do this. Once you hear beeping in an area, you will want to find the exact coordinates of the metal. This can be done by turning your metal detector on to "All Metal" mode. Then move the metal detector side to side approximately 6 inches in both directions of your target. Then move the detector front to back approximately 6 inches in both directions of your target. Metal will be located under the area with the strongest audio signal.

Proper Care

• Part of keeping your Tesoro Vaquero in working condition and making it last is using proper care. You can do this by keeping it out of water and not going metal detecting in the rain. You should never store it in any location that's hot or humid. It's also important to never use any chemicals to clean your Tesoro Vaquero. While this product has a lifetime warranty, it won't cover any damage incurred by someone altering it. Therefore, you should never add any extra parts that aren't made by Tesoro.
