Things You'll Need
Instructions
Put on your auto-darkening helmet to protect your face and eyes while welding. Long work gloves should be worn as well.
Put the first two pieces of the frame that you need to weld together on top of one another on your work surface.
Apply clamps to hold the pieces together. If they shift while you're welding, it can ruin the frame.
Heat the joints of the sheets of metal with a welding torch. This process melts the joint so that the two pieces fuse together to become one.
Allow the first two sheets for your frame to cool down. Once cool, the melted metal will harden and the joint will be permanent.
Remove the first two sheets and lay the next set down. Clamp and weld as you did before. Continue until you have all of your flat metal sides for the go kart frame.
Set two sides of the frame that will create an angle next to each other and attach with a vise. Weld as you did the other pieces. This helps you create the bends in the go kart frame.
Keep welding the parts of the frame using the vise clamp and your propane torch. Eventually, you will have the full frame for the go kart.
