Standard Block Lettering
Examine the document or form that is asking you to print in block letters. This request is common on applications and documents that require you to copy a statement of agreement. Gather all the necessary information before getting started.
Fill out the document using a pen. To adhere to the request for block lettering, use only capital letters. For example: MY NAME IS JOHN DOE. In the simplest sense, printing in block letters means using only capitals.
Double check the document to make sure that you have filled it out completely and used block lettering where necessary.
Artistic Block Lettering
Gather all the necessary materials to create artistic block letters. You will need a pencil, ruler and eraser.
Use the ruler to create a standard, capital letter. For now, practice creating the block letter "T." The lines should be straight and lightly penciled. Although the letter can be any size you wish, it should be large enough to add the artistic elements.
Use your ruler to draw a horizontal line parallel to the top part of the "T." It should be the same length as the line in the "T," and no more than half an inch away from the letter. The farther away that you draw it, the more bulky the block letter will be.
Measure the distance between the top of the "T" and the horizontal line. Divide the distance between the lines by two to find the midpoint.
Find the midpoint on the ruler and place it on the vertical line of the "T." Make a tick mark on either side of the line, such that they are the same distant apart as the horizontal lines.
Move down the vertical line of the "T" and add two to three more sets of tick marks.
Use the ruler to draw a straight, vertical line connecting the tick marks on either side of the "T." All the vertical lines should be the same length. Once you are done, should have three vertical lines, all extending from the horizontal line of the "T" to the same point at the bottom of the "T."
Use the ruler to draw a vertical line that connects the right edges of the horizontal lines of your "T." Repeat this for the left side. The top of your "T" should now look like a rectangle.
Use the ruler to draw a horizontal line that connects the bottom edges of the vertical lines in your "T." Your "T" should now look like two rectangles.
Erase any lines inside the outline of the "T."
