Things You'll Need
Instructions
Rub a small piece of sandpaper over all the NiCad battery terminals so the terminals are not so smooth. This makes for a better weld connection between the tabs and the battery terminals. Wipe the battery terminals using a clean cloth so they are free from dust.
Heat a soldering iron. Put the end of the soldering iron onto the NiCad battery terminal and at the same time introduce a little self-fluxing solder. Let the solder melt onto the battery terminal them immediately remove the solder and the soldering iron. Repeat the process on all the battery terminals. Let the solder cool completely.
Place a tab onto a battery terminal. Gently put the end of the soldering iron on top of the tab. Let the heat transfer through the tab so the solder melts. As soon as it does, remove the soldering iron. The solder solidifies and the tab is securely welded to the battery terminal ready for wiring.
Repeat the process using all the tabs and weld them onto the battery terminals. Turn off the soldering iron. Make sure you allow the tabs and batteries to cool before you commence to wiring them.
