Things You'll Need
Instructions
Fold the heavy cardboard in half. Step on the cardboard with your foot with the inside of your foot about an inch from the fold.
Use a pen or pencil to trace around your foot on the piece of cardboard. Add three millimeters around the entire shape.
Cut out your shape carefully. Open your cutout to reveal a shape that has two mounds at the toe areas. Use your scissors to cut two slits at the inside heel mark to the outside of the shape.
Trace the shape on the cardboard onto your medium thickness leather that weighs 3 to 4 ounces, which is the weight of one square foot.
Place the cardboard shape with the grain so that the leather piece goes around the cardboard, as though the cardboard is the sole. You will remove it later.
Thread your glover's needle with waxed thread. If you're unclear as to what a glover's needle is, it is a needle with 3 edges that cuts through leather in a more effective way than a traditional needle can pierce it.
Stitch up the top of your moccasin, beginning at the center point. Sew the moccasin's heel by folding the back part in and joining it to the tab created by the slits that you made.
Create the seams of the moccasin with a running stitch and whip stitch. The seams can be inside out or right side out. Try it on so you know it fits you.
