How to Straighten Aluminum Tubing on Your Beam Antenna

A beam, or directional, antenna is a powerful antenna used for picking up stronger frequencies and reducing the amount of interference a standard antenna will pick up. For a residential consumer, beam antennas are typically used to pick up television signals from the roof of a house. Because of continual exposure to the elements, beam antennas will sometimes become bent. Fortunately they are made of metals which are easily bent using inexpensive tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Grab the pipe bender by the handle with the rounded, exposed end facing up. Slide the bend end of the bent beam into the pipe bender, just where it begins to bend.

    • 2

Hold the tube and very slowly and carefully bend away from the the pipe bender. Bend until the tube is straight enough to slide further into the pipe bender.

    • 3

Slide the tube into the bender up to the next bend and repeat the second step. Repeat this process until the entire tube is straightened.
