Things You'll Need
Instructions
Cut a small piece of fishing line about 6 inches long. Fold the line over in half and string some smaller shells so that the line is covered. Tie off each end of the cross carefully, knotting it so that the shells won't fall off. Do the same thing with another piece of fishing line, this one 8 inches long. Be sure to leave a small loop on the top end so that you can hang the cross onto the necklace.
Glue the ends of each string of beads to reinforce them. This will ensure that they do not slip. If the knots are unsightly, or the glue doesn't dry completely clear, slide a crystal bead onto each end to hide the sight. Twist the smaller piece around the larger piece to make the cross shape. Reinforce the twisted center with glue and allow it to dry completely.
Cut a longer piece of string. The size depends on the neck size, so you might have to make your best guess as to the size. Fold the string in half and use the loop end to push through the holes of the seashells. If desired, use the crystal beads for decoration. Continue stringing until you get halfway through the necklace. This sets the cross in the correct place so that when it is worn, the cross lays in the center of the neck.
String the cross onto the necklace. Continue stringing until you have all the fishing line covered up by the shells. Glue beads on the ends, if desired. Tie the fishing line to each end of the necklace clasp. (Necklace clasps can be purchased at a craft store.)
Apply a small dollop of craft glue to the knots you tied to secure the necklace clasp. Allow the glue to dry. Be sure not to put the necklace on a flat surface while it dries so that the glue doesn't affix itself to the surface.
