Things You'll Need
Instructions
Find an RC car. You can use one of your own, or you may purchase an inexpensive model at a local or online shop. A lower-priced RC car will work well for this procedure.
Remove the plastic decorative shell of the RC car, as you'll no longer need it. Removing the shell will reveal the electronic components inside.
Save the two servos (motors), the green receiver board and the black battery pack the RC car provides. The servos can remain attached to the RC car's wheelbase to act as the means of locomotion for the unit. Pull out the receiver board and battery for later use. Also, set aside the RC controller, which you can use to control the battle bot later on.
Take two separate hook-and-loop fastener strips and cut each into two separate pieces using scissors. One piece will consist of the hooks side and the other of the loops side, leaving you with two of each. Apply a thin layer of toy model glue to the back of each piece.
Apply one of the hooks pieces to the top center of the wheelbase, allowing the glue to act as the adhesive that holds it in place. Place the other hooks piece on the bottom center of the wheelbase.
Apply one of the loops pieces to the back of the receiver board component and the other to the back of the battery pack component. Allow these pieces several minutes to dry.
Place the receiver board onto the wheelbase by affixing it to the hooks piece on the top of the base.
Place the battery pack onto the wheelbase by affixing it to the hooks piece on the bottom of the base.
Wire the various components to the receiver board. The battery has a two-wire lead coming out of it. Take this lead and insert it into one of the small open channels on the end of the receiver board. Insert both wires into the channel listed as "Batt" or "Battery," depending on the receiver's model.
Wire the servos to the receiver board by inserting each of their wire leads into separate channels. Ensure that you wire each servo and the receiver into different channels.
Add weaponry to make your robot a battle bot. Create a ramming battle bot by placing a small log on the robot. Use carpenter's glue or duct tape to fasten the log near the edge of the robot's base. This will provide it with destructive power when you propel it into other battle bots.
Create a puncturing or stabbing battle bot by adding a puncturing object to the battle bot instead of or in conjunction with the ramming weapon. You may create this type of weapon easily by taking a flathead screwdriver and sharpening the end of it down to a point, then attaching your new spear to the base of the battle bot using toy model glue or duct tape.
Turn on the RC controller and use its controls to move your battle bot as you see fit.
