Things You'll Need
Instructions
Mount the motor. The particular motor may come with specialized motor mounts, or you may have to build mounts. Be sure to mount the motor where the shaft is accessible to connect to the component it will turn.
Connect the motor shaft to the part it will move. A toy plane's motor shaft might connect directly to a propeller, while some bicycle motors have shafts that are modified to fit directly over a tire to spin the wheel.
Mount the switch, throttle or other means to control the motor. For instance, a throttle for an electric bike motor might mount on the handle bars.
Install the batteries. This may require a special battery pack that holds one or more batteries. If this is not included with the motor, you can purchase one from an electronics store or hobby store.
Connect the wiring. The motor, control mechanism and battery may be installed in different locations. Make sure to route the wiring so that it is secure and out of the way of any moving parts.
