How to Polish a Ski-Doo Tunnel

Your Ski-Doo snowmobile is exposed to an extremely harsh environment every year. This includes snow, rain, sun, road salts and dirt. Protecting the large investment in your sled can be done with a little preventative care. Washing and waxing the tunnel of the snowmobile is one simple and inexpensive way to accomplish this. Because a snowmobile's metal body is painted similarly to an automobile, car wax is used as a protectant.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the Ski-Doo in a location that is shaded from the sun.

    • 2

Fill a bucket with warm water and 3 tbsp. of car wash soap. Wash the entire Ski-Doo with a rag, removing any dirt, trail grime and oils on the body.

    • 3

Rinse the snowmobile with water. Soft water is preferred because it will leave less water stains on the sled. Allow the Ski-Doo to dry.

    • 4

Apply car wax to the tunnel of the snowmobile with a rag, using a circular motion. Allow the wax to dry for 10 to 15 minutes.

    • 5

Rub off the dried car wax with a new clean towel, using a circular motion to remove it. An old toothbrush can be used to remove any wax that gets into joints or grooves.
