How to Make a Cactus as a Balloon Twister

Balloon twisting is a festive activity for a child's birthday or family gathering. There are also a variety of shapes you can make to fit the theme of any party from animals to hats and more. For a party with a Western theme, twisting balloons to look like double-armed, tall cacti can make for bright party favors.

Instructions

    • 1

Blow up your green balloon and leave 5 inches at the tip un-inflated so that you have a long blown up balloon with a little sagging 5-inch piece of rubber at the end. Tie off the open end of your balloon by wrapping it around your index and middle finger and pushing it under itself then pulling tightly.

    • 2

Take the tied end of your balloon and fold it 4 inches upwards so that it now runs parallel to the rest of your long balloon. Measure another 4 inches up the body of your balloon and fold it downward so that the tip of your balloon is now facing down and there are three even pieces of balloon running parallel with each other.

    • 3

Squeeze the three pieces of your balloon that are parallel together in the center tightly and twist them together five times. Your balloon will now look like a sword with a long piece of balloon and a handle at the bottom end.

    • 4

Fold the long piece of balloon downward pressing it about an inch past your sword handle, then squeeze and twist it around the handle. This will create the body of your cactus with two green curves from your earlier twist coming out from either side.
