Steps
Stepping from side to side is a rudimentary dance move that can be jazzed up. You can do a quick step left and right, then slide back to the starting position. You can also do two or three steps to one side, then quickly change and do two or three steps to the other side.
Turns
A quick turn can change the direction of your dance, making you face a new angle to continue dancing. Or, you can make a full turn to return where you started, throwing your arms out to the side or above your head as you turn. Also, consider doing a turn on one foot, for a more fancy spin.
Hips
Hip movements can take an ordinary dance and turn it into something more exotic. Jut your hips back and forth while doing a step to the side. Or, do a number of quick hip jerks in one direction, in time to your music.
Claps
A clap here and there can add emphasis to the dance. For instance, when you land after a quick turn, clap your hands loudly once as an embellishment. Or, if you're jutting your hips quickly in time to the music, make one quick clap for each hip movement.
