How Do I Set a Seiko 5Y23 Watch?

Avoid being late for important appointments by ensuring your Seiko 5Y23-series wristwatch shows the correct time and date. The Seiko 5Y23 is an electronic watch with a traditional analog clock face display. You can set the time, day of the week and the date on the Seiko 5Y23 with the crown on the side of the watch casing. The crown is the button with the slightly serrated edge on the side of the watch next to the date display window. Pull the crown to the correct click position and turn it clockwise or counterclockwise to set the time and date.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull out the crown to the first click position.

    • 2

Turn the crown clockwise to move the date display. The date moves backward as you turn the crown, so continue to turn until the correct date displays in the window.

    • 3

Turn the crown counterclockwise to set the day of the week display.

    • 4

Pull out the crown to the second click position. Turn the crown to move the hands to the "12 o' clock" position. If the date display stays the same, the watch is showing p.m. time. If this is correct, move to the next step. Alternatively, move to a.m. time by turning the crown to move the hands forward another 12 hours.

    • 5

Turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise to move the hour and minutes hands to the correct a.m. or p.m. time. Push the crown back into its normal position.
