Things You'll Need
Instructions
Lay the rope on a work surface. Unroll the rope so that you have access to one end. Place the end flat on the work surface.
Unroll approximately 12 inches of twine and cut it off with shears. Hold onto the rope and twist it slightly so that the twists open up approximately 3 inches from the end. Slide one end of the twine through the twists in the rope and pull approximately 3 inches through. Let go of the rope so that it secures the twine inside the rope's twists.
Wrap the long portion of the twine around the rope tightly several times until the length of the wrapping is approximately equal to the rope's thickness. Twist the rope to open up the braids and slide the long end of the rope through them, pulling the twine tight. Let go of the rope to secure the long end.
Pull the long end of the twine up across the wrapped area and twist the rope enough so that you can slide the twine through. Pull it tight and release the rope to secure it in place. Repeat this process with the shorter end of the twine.
Twist the rope to open the braiding where the ends of the twine are pulled through it. Grasp both ends of twine and tie them together in a double knot. Release the rope.
Clip the ends of the twine off close to the edges of the rope with shears. Cut the whipped end of the rope approximately 1/4 inch from the wrapped twine with shears.
Burn the end of the rope with a lighter until it has seared over.
