Instructions
Unroll the MonoKote on a flat surface. Place the model part you will be covering on the MonoKote and cut a section of the material that is approximately 2 inches larger than the width and 4 inches larger than length of the part.
Remove the clear protective backing from the MonoKote. Place the adhesive side of the MonoKote against the model part, leaving a 1-inch overlap on all sides and 3 inches on the wing tip.
Set your heat-sealing iron to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. When hot, press the iron to the center of the outer end of the panel to secure it. Continue doing this, pulling the MonoKote taut and tacking it first at the corner of the trailing edge, then at the leading edge corner. Repeat this until you reach the inside end of the part.
Seal the MonoKote along the edges, starting at the center of the trailing edge and working out to the ends while pulling the material taut. Repeat the process on the leading edge. Then seal along the tip and center. If you are covering a solid surface, leave 1 inch in the center of the panel unsealed to allow for an air-escape opening.
Pull the excess material while applying heat and stretch the panel over the tip of the wing. Use the utility knife to trim the excess material, leaving a 1/4-inch overlap. Set the iron lightly against on the surface of the material and glided it back and forth over the entire panel to shrink the covering. If you are using it on a solid surface, work the sealing tool in toward the air-escape opening, sealing that area last.
