Things You'll Need
Instructions
Set your tires on cinder blocks if you are parking your Trail-Lite on an unpaved road or lawn. Because the weight of the trailer is concentrated at the mid-section, the wheels are particularly susceptible to sinking in during the wet, rainy months of early spring.
Remove any loose items from the trailer and place them in temperature-regulated storage. Empty cabinets and remove towels, linens and bedspreads. Relocate the mattress, and if your Trail-Lite is a model 8250S or 8310S, remove the sofa cushions.
Place chemical dehumidifiers around the camper. For smaller Trail-Lite models, one will generally be sufficient. If your model has a separating wall between the bathroom area and the bedroom, place a dehumidifier at each end of the RV.
Check the underside of the RV and plug any holes with brass wool. Mice and other rodents can harbor in these crevices during the winter, and can even find their way through ducts and piping into the interior of your camper.
Remove the propane tank, and seal the inside and outside of the propane line with brass wool.
Siphon or drain as much water as possible from the water lines. If your Trail-Lite comes equipped with an ice maker, disconnect the line. Once the water has been removed, run a course of non-toxic antifreeze through the pump and water lines until the antifreeze is coming out of each faucet. Pour a half a cup of antifreeze into each of the sink traps.
