How to: Vanishing Candles

Impress your friends with your incredible ability to make a candle disappear. This impressive feat is really an illusion. With little effort or true Harry Houdini ability, you can look like you are ready for your own show in Las Vegas!

Things You'll Need

Magic vanishing candle kit with candle and silk scarf

Instructions

  Purchase a magic vanishing candle kit at a local novelty or magic store. This kit will contain a candle and a red silk scarf.

  Work on a stage in a room lit by dim incandescent lighting for the best visual affect. Avoid bright florescent lighting.

  Move to a distance of eight feet to 10 feet from your audience.

  Hold the candle in one hand and the scarf in the other. Pass the scarf over the candle to "light it." "Light" the candle by pushing the button on it with the hand holding the candle.

  Work the scarf around the candle in a spiral from top to bottom to "blow the candle out." Press the power button again while you do this. The candle will turn red and blend in with the the scarf. It will appear to the audience to have vanished.
