How to Make a Crystal Mount

Crystal mounts display fine crystals, rare stones and minerals. They are often used in retail stores when trying to sell the crystal. Crystal mounts are also found in personal display cases. Make a crystal mount using acrylic. Acrylic is easy to clean and will allow light to pass through the crystal at any angle. This will come in handy when setting it on a glass shelf. Use acrylic glue to hold the pieces together and you will have a mount that will last for many years.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your 4-by-4-inch acrylic flat and drill a 1/4-inch deep 1/4-inch hole near each corner so the centers of the holes are each 1 inch away from the edges.

    • 2

Glue the 1-inch rods into a pair of the holes that are 2 inches apart. Do not glue them so they are catty-corner.

    • 3

Glue the 1/2-inch rods into the last pair of holes. Let the glue dry according to the instructions listed on the package.

    • 4

Set your crystal or other special stone on the mount so it rests on the 1-inch rods and is held back by the 1/2-inch rods.
