How to Do a Pitch Raise on a Piano

Raising the pitch on a piano requires tuning the keys on the piano. The piano is technically a percussion instrument and produces sound by striking a hammer attached to a string against a key within the piano. Because tuning a piano is a delicate process, many people with pianos consult professional piano tuners for the job, but with the right instruments you can raise the pitch on your piano.

Instructions

    • 1

Take off the back of your piano so that the strings and hammers of the piano's inner workings are exposed.

    • 2

Identify the note on the piano you want to raise the pitch on. Follow the string from the piano key all the way up to the corresponding hammer.

    • 3

Fix the tuning lever on the pin that corresponds with the note you want to tune. Raise the pitch by turning the pin clockwise.
