Instructions
Bend the wire into a circle with a circumference of approximately 90 inches. This is the ring of metal that supports the shrimp sock for dipping into the water. Leave about five or six inches of excess wire at each end of the hoop, but twist them together a couple of times so the circle retains it shape. The wire ends will be thread through the metal pole to secure the hoop in place.
Fold the mesh in half lengthways so you have a long, rectangular shape. Then, sew up the longest edge and the bottom edge of the mesh so that you have a long sock.
Pull the open edge of the mesh sock through the metal hoop. Fold the edges over the top of the rim so it opens out fully. Now, sew the mesh into place. Sew directly underneath the rim of the metal hoop, where the mesh doubles back onto itself. Sew around the point where the excess wire protrudes from the circle.
Trim off the excess mesh and tie off the ends of the thread.
Drill a hole with a diameter of about 0.25 inches through one end of the metal pole, approximately one inch from the end. Now, thread both the excess lengths of wire through these holes.
Secure the wire to the pole by continually threading it through the hole until only one-inch of wire remains. Pull the wire tightly so that the hoop is as close to the end of the pol as it can be without warping. Then, cut off the excess wire with the wire cutters.
