Instructions
Lay the bobcat on its back. Use a sharp blade to cut in the center of the chest just 2 inches in front of the armpits. Continue into the sex organs and anus, to 2 inches from the bottom of the tail, then make an incision there (bottom of tail).
Pull the skin on one of the forelegs backward as much as possible toward the spine. Use a bone saw to cut through the leg and remove the skin from the body to the spinal area. Repeat this for the other foreleg and two hind legs. Remove the skin from the tail to the ending point of the incision. Skin near the neck also.
Use the sharp blade to slice along the lower gum line and remove the skin from the lower jaw area. Use the same slice along the upper gum line also. Remove the skin in front of the nose, ear butts and eyes. Take care while skinning the ears, as they are located on the back of the skull. Make a deep cut at the base of the ear through the muscle and pull the skin forward with your index finger. While skinning eyes, put your index finger inside the eyelid and proceed. Make use of the gum lines and skin the upper jaw area to get the nose area.
Wrap the leg in a paper towel and pull the leg away from the paw. Do skinning from the leg to foot pads to the toe digits. Use a pair of dikes to cut the claw from the last toe joint. Split the lips and eyelids for salting. Use your index finger or thumb to apply pressure, and separate the skin and rub it with salt. Apply salt on all the skinned areas and leave it overnight. Resalt it for another 12 hours and hang it to dry.
Choose a manikin of the required shape. Tuck the appropriate parts onto the manikin. Start from the upper lip and proceed farther with lower lip, legs, foot pad, toes, body, eyes, ears and nose. Sew them through the cuts using a round needle. Set the whiskers also.
