How to Make a Drum Screen

Use a drum screen on-stage or in the studio. Use it to provide acoustic separation between the drum kit and other instruments effectively by muffling the sound waves produced by the drums. Many drummers favor acrylic screens as -- being transparent -- they allow the drummer to see the other musicians, as well as the producer at a recording session. Hinged, folding screens are more practical than their fixed counterparts.

Things You'll Need

  • 4 acrylic panels: 5 feet, 6 inches high, 2 feet wide, ¼ inch thick
  • 3 pieces of living hinge, each 5 feet, 6 inches long
